Q2 has a very exciting line up of workshops for the Summer holidays.

We will be dedicating each day to a Performing Arts Discipline:
- Drama (Monday)
- Singing and Music (Tuesday)
- Dance (Wednesday and Thursday)
- Performance (Friday)

DRAMA:
Movement and Voice, character development, script writing and scene work.

MUSIC/SINGING
Reading and Writing music,
singing techniques and exercises, repertoire work.

DANCE:
Hip Hop, Break Dancing, Popping Acrobatics, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, Tap, Jazz.

PERFORMANCE:
Staging, choreography, working in a group and performance showcase for the parents.

All Styles taught by industry professionals.

FAQ:

- How do I register?
Register HERE and answer the questionnaire. You will then be directed to our shop where you can pay for the workshops.

- How many people will there be?
In each level there will be a maximum of 25 kids. Spaces are limited and they fill up fast so make sure you register early!

- What do I wear/bring:
Bring Lunch every day, (we have water supplied)
Appropriate shoes for dance- Sneakers/tap shoes/jazz shoes
You can wear any clothes that are comfortable and you can move and dance in.
Please wear you hair up.

- What if I don't have Tap/Jazz shoes?
Thats ok, for Tap you can do it with sneakers and for Jazz you can do bare feet.

- What are the ages?
6-13 years old

- What levels are there?
There are two levels 6-9 and 10-13. When you register your age, you will be automatically put in the relevant level.

- Does it matter if I don't have experience in all styles?
No! Just come with and open mind and willingness to learn. The classes are set out to cater for all skill levels. It is also a great way to learn new things and try styles you have never before.
It will be lots of fun, just be respectful of all students and teachers and you will have a great time!!

Showcase competition - placement

So proud to announce Luella and Bronte took out 3/3 solos with 3 gold medals!

Scores of 90-95 for all 3 routines- 2 jazz solos and 1 contemporary solo!

Q2 AT AHC 2012

We are very excited to have Bodee back! He is from Instant Bun (AGT) and taught classes last year.
Then he went to LA! NOW he is back teaching our Saturday Acrobatics class!
Check him and the Q2 kids from Saturday's class here!

We are also excited to have a new addition to our Ballet Department
Miss Delia Harrington. Delia has danced on the greatest stages in the world, with some of the world’s greatest companies and dancers.
Delia was a student at the Victorian College of the Arts and graduated from the Australian Ballet School in Melbourne.
Delia has danced with;
  • Australian Ballet Company as the principal dancer
  • Royal Ballet Company as the soloist ballerina.
Delia has also been a guest artiste with a number of ballet companies and served as a board member with the Pacific North West Ballet Company
and the Spectrum Dance Company in Seattle.

BYE BYE ALAN :( ...FOR NOW!

Unfortunately we have had to say good bye to our Popping teacher Alan. As he has left us for Korea!

Alan, won a competition for a free trip to Korea to go train with some of the best Poppers. You can watch his final dance that won him the trip:

Luckily, he is coming back! 

We look forward to having him back in October and we wish him the best of luck over there. Look forward to learning from him when he gets back with all his new tricks!

FIRST PLACE JAZZ SOLO & HC IN CONTEMPORARY!!

Q2 is so proud and excited to announce our big week in competition solos.

Luella Hogan represented us in our first ever Contemporary solo and Jazz solo at the Wollongong Eiesteddfod. And she placed 4th/HC in Contemporary and First in Jazz.

A massive congratulations to Luella who has been working extremely hard, doing lots of extra rehearsals and nearly 30 hours of dance a week! Luella is a great example of what good training, hard work, dedication and a great team of people can achieve.

Talking of the team, a massive thank you and congratulations to Lauren Elton who choreographed both routines and has been working extensively with Luella. And a thank you to our head of costume department Nicole Hogan for her brilliant work, Luella looked absolutely gorgeous and age appropriate! 

Luella's solo placements have topped of a great start to our first year of Eiesteddfod competitions as well as our first year of Q2 broadening into Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz and technique!

Q2 2nd in Jazz at CIty of Sydney Eiestedfod

Extremely proud to announce that Q2's Jazz Group came second in our FIRST Jazz Eiestedfod EVER!!!

Massive congratulations to the girls; Bronte, Chloe, Holly, Luella, Isabelle and Madison. They did an amazing job.

The most inspiring thing is the fact 4/6 the girls have only been dancing with Q2 for just a year or less and have only been doing Technique since Term 4 2011!!! 

None of it would be possible without the amazing Lauren Elton who was the genius behind our awesome show.

A thank you to our head of costume department Nicole, who never fails to make our kids the best dressed at every show/competition!

Lastly, a huge thank you to the parent of our talented bunch. Thank you for your support. time and love.

Next stop: Contemporary on the 21st of July!...... Stay tuned.

CHRIS BROWN DANCERS AT Q2

Q2 were very lucky to have the Chris Brown dancers to come teach a couple of workshops for us!!!


It was a high energy and sweaty couple of hours with a bunch of hot dancers!!!

CAMILLA MERCEDES FASHION WEEK S12

Q2dance was so excited to be asked to provide kids for Camilla Runway show!

It was the first show Camilla's new kids range and the kids looked absolutely stunning and were so great!

Plus all the mums got the opportunity to be dressed in the Camilla range, which was a great experience and one that they all absolutly loved!

The kids had the best day being little celebrities for the day, posing for hundreds of photos and being interviewed!

They got on Channel 9 and Channel 7 news plus in the Herald and all other media outlets!!!

Q2DANCE AT CHAMPIONS TOUR!

The Champions tour was a tour with the best crews from all over the world including:
Request Crew
Phillipines All Stars
Go Go Brothers

All the champion crews from across Australia were invited to come be the support act for the the amazing crews.

Q2dance was very priviliged to be invited to be one of the support acts!

It was a fantastic night filled with so much talent and such a great representation of the dancers in Australia and the hard work and creativity everyone in the dance scene has!

It was such a great night for all the kids and parents!

Very proud to announce that we came 3rd at the competition a few weeks ago! We never cease to walk away without a place!

It was even more special because 4 out of 6 dancers have never competed before and 3 of them have only been dancing for 6 months!

PIANO LESSONS!!!

Q2 has expanded our curriculum by adding Piano lessons. Check out our timetable for available time half hour time slots of private lessons!

The piano lessons will be taught by Zoe Drummond. Her Bio is as follows:


Zoe Drummond attends The Sydney Conservatorium of Music, completing a Bachelor of Music Performance majoring in Classical Voice. She studied voice and piano at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School for 3 years.

 Zoe is a recipient of the Opera Scholars Australia, the Robert Salzer Voice Award, and was a finalist in the Sydney Eisteddfod Joan Sutherland Memorial Award. She has her ABRSM Grade 7 Singing, AMEB Grade 7 Piano, AMEB Grade 5 Theory and AMEB Step 4 Contemporary Guitar, and has been privately teaching for 2 years.

Performing highlights include performing ‘Dido’ in Purcell’s ‘Dido and Aeneas’ with The Sydney Conservatorium Early Music ensemble; Papagena in Pacific Opera’s ‘The Magic Flute’;  ‘Flora’ in Britten’s ‘The Turn Of The Screw’ with Victorian Opera; touring nationally and internationally with Gondwana Voices; ‘HMS Pinafore’ with the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Society Australia; studying with NIDA Young Actors Studio 1 Year course; and performing in two New Years Eve Spectaculars with the Australian Pops Orchestra. In 2011 Zoe performed in the World Premiere of ‘Assembly’ with Victorian Opera and Chunky Move Dance Company.

Q2 had a great event at the Carnival of Cultures with performances by our Junior Hip hop and Break and our Junior Jazz and Contemporary dancers! Plus we ended the show with our performance crew.

ADULT FITNESS CLASS

Q2dance has added a dance fitness class to our adult timetable.

Every Saturday at 12pm- 1pm.

Its not like your normal Aerobic class where you stand and stare at the mirrors and do robotic repetitions!

This class is all about the music and about fun dance moves.

Its all about having a good time while getting fit and getting fit without even knowing!

Listenting to great house/club music and moving around the room so you feel like you are at a party rather than a boring fitness class!

Its SO much fun!

NEW ADULT FITNESS CLASS AND HOUSE CLASS ON SATURDAYS


Nathan has been teaching dance now for 5 years. He is currently studying a B. Applied Science (Exercise Physiology) and a Dip. Audio Engineering and Sound Production.

Nathan's passion in life is using music to make people feel unstoppable and passionate about movement. He specialises in a style of dance known as House, along with any street styles that originated in the club scene.

His classes are perfect for those people that don’t think they can dance...but want to so badly! He provides a fun and club like atmosphere in his classes that will leave you laughing and breathless.

If you come to Nathan's class you can usually expect a good club beat and great workout while having fun and dancing!!

Q2 CURRICULUM FOR DRAMA/SINGING/MUSICAL THEATRE

NEW DRAMA/MUSICAL THEATRE AND SINGING CURRICULUM 2012

Q2dance is very happy to announce we are adding to our 2012 curriculum, with Drama, Singing and Musical Theatre.

We are very proud to have the brilliant Tim Dashwood as part of our faculty.

His an incredible and award winning actor. His teaching CV included NIDA and QLD Theatre Company. His acting CV is too long to have here so please feel free to view on our website!

The new Drama and Musical curriculum will include:


- Acting technique for musical auditions
- Monologue Technique 
- Audition Technique
-Performing and Drama Skills
- Basic Physical Theatre
- Improvisation skills

and much more. 





His classes will be available starting in the New Year on Mondays.
